- “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14a
I crochet, though I’ve tried knitting before. With crochet, a single hook creates beauty one loop at a time
much like how God weaves healing and purpose into our lives. With knitting, two needles work
together each motion purposeful, each stitch dependent on the other, much like how our faith and
God’s grace work in harmony to restore what has been torn.
Either way, to be wonderfully made happens one stitch at a time. In the same way, God’s design in us
unfolds slowly thread by thread as God heals what was broken and restores what was forgotten.
Healing and transformation often happen in quiet, intentional movements, guided by the hands of the
Master Weaver.
Each strand carries purpose. Every loop, every stitch no matter how small or unseen is touched
by the Weaver. God’s hands are always at work, guiding what takes shape, holding tension where it’s
needed, and softening where grace must flow. There are no wasted threads in God’s creation, only
opportunities for God’s healing and love to reveal the beauty of divine design.
Just imagine our Creator lovingly pulling from God’s own heart intertwining the essence of who God
is as God forms every detail of who we are. This divine weaving began in the womb, where God’s
purpose, healing, and identity were stitched into our very being. Somewhere along the journey, pain
and trauma may have tangled those threads, but God’s original design God’s promise and love
still remain. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, even when we forget our worth.
The journey of healing is really the journey of remembering who we already are in God. Healing
through faith is not about becoming someone new, but about returning to the truth of who God created
us to be whole, loved, and worthy.
When we return to the truth of who God created us to be, we remember that woven within every fiber of
our being is God’s courage, love, and peace. Whatever it is we long for faith, strength, or hope
God has already placed within us the thread that leads us back to divine purpose. Through prayer,
reflection, and community, we begin to rediscover the beauty of God’s design and the healing that
comes from trusting God’s hands again.
Faith Leaders and Friends
Faith leaders and friends may we carry this truth into the way we see others. Each person we
encounter is a living tapestry of God’s handiwork threads of grace, purpose, and promise.
Let’s speak life into those we serve. Let’s remind them that they, too, are fearfully and wonderfully
made.
And as we do, let’s also create spaces where people can safely begin to untangle what’s heavy and
rediscover what’s holy.
Consider:
- Offering a prayer box for private requests and prayer over the box with the congregation.
- Keeping visible reminders like the National Domestic Violence Hotline throughout the year.
- Partnering with local domestic violence organizations to strengthen awareness and provide pathways to safety and support.
Every act of compassion becomes a stitch of restoration in the fabric of community. Healing doesn’t always happen in a single moment; sometimes, it unfolds thread by thread, breath by breath. But even in those small breathes God is near.
