“Give thanks to the Lord for the Lord is good. — Psalm 107:1
Opening
November is here the month where we pause and remember to give thanks.
But here’s the truth:
Sometimes we don’t feel thankful yet.
- We’re still waiting.
- Still praying.
- Still believing for something that hasn’t shown up.
And yet God invites us to give thanks in the middle.
Not just when the blessing comes.
Not just when the story makes sense.
But here… right in the in-between.
That kind of gratitude takes faith.
It says:
“Lord, I don’t see it yet — but I still trust You.”
“I’m not finished becoming — but I thank You anyway.”
“It’s not perfect — but You are still good.”
Being thankful in the middle is not denial it is declaration.
It is standing on shifting ground while still whispering:
“Thank You for breath. Thank You for strength. Thank You for holding me together when I feel undone.”
Reflection Prompt
Where do you feel “in the middle” right now?
Closing Thought
As we move through November, let’s not wait for everything to be settled before we give thanks.
Gratitude grows best in imperfect places — because it reminds us that God is here right now.
And that is enough.
